The sun will shine again.

January 12, 2012

If you’re in a dark place, where the shadows will try & consume you.

Hold on…..

The sun will shine again.

If you’re stuck and feel like you can barely move.

Hold on…..

The hand of love will guide you through.

Hope rises up and holds on to us, bringing love with it, to carry us through.

Hold on.

Like you’ve never seen it before…..

The sun will shine again.

Grace.

April 3, 2011

Cut yourself some slack.

Be gentle with yourself.

Grant yourself some grace.

For mercy, grace and love are freely given to you.

Rest.

Here with you.

April 3, 2011

Just wanted you to know.

Made a wrong turn
Once or twice
Dug my way out
Blood and fire
Bad decisions
That’s alright
Welcome to my silly life

Mistreated
Misplaced
Misunderstood
Miss knowing it’s all good
It didn’t slow me down.

Mistaking
Always second guessing
Underestimating
Look I’m still around

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever, ever feel
Like you’re less than
less than perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
less than perfect to me

You’re so mean
When you talk
About yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices in your head

Make them like you instead
So complicated
Look how we all make it
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game

It’s enough
I’ve done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons
I’ve seen you do the same

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever, ever feel
Like you’re less than
Less than perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
Less than perfect to me

The whole worlds scared
So I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking
Is an ice cold beer

So cool in line
And we try, try, try
But we try too hard
And it’s a waste of my time

Done looking for the critics
Cause they’re everywhere
They don’t like my jeans
They don’t get my hair

Exchange ourselves
And we do it all the time
Why do we do that?
Why do I do that?

Why do I do that?

Yeeeeaaaahhh
Oooooooh
Oh baby pretty please

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever feel
Like you’re less than
Less than perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
Less than perfect to me

You’re perfect, you’re perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
You are perfect to me

December 31, 2010

I think of you on this day because it’s New Years Eve, 2010.

You made it. Not only did you make, you soared. You took mighty big leaps this past year. You conquered.

No, things may not be perfect or even close to. However, look at where you were a year ago and where you are at now.

A year ago, you were done. Fed up. Frustrated. Stuck. Miserable. Caught up in your own personal hell and not able to breathe clearly. Remember?

Now, you’re on a journey to healing. Step by step, you are heading into freedom.

Be proud of yourself. I’m proud of you.

You’re doing it.

You’re pushing through, wrestling and fighting your way through the garbage they left behind.

You are moving forward.

I look forward to what lies ahead.

Freedom. Joy. Peace. Opportunities to create new memories.

Keep pushing on my friend. Keep pressing in.

Take back yourself.

Never give up.

I’ll be walking with you.

For now. You should take a moment. Reflect on the good. Reflect on all the great things that have been done.

For love is winning.

Love.

November 2, 2010

Love brings hope.

Love reaches down to the depths of our souls. The deepest and darkest places and touches us.

Love brings healing.

It is good to be weak and let love in when it comes knocking on your door.

I am.

October 16, 2009

May you hold these truths deep within your hearts……..

I am precious.

I am priceless.

I am a gift.

I AM.

I am amazing.

I am beautiful.

I am extraordinary.

I AM.

I am intelligent.

I am strong.

I am a survivor.

I AM.

I am a beautiful creation.

I am loved.

I am adored.

I am cherished.

Right here.

Right where I’m at.

As is.

Blooming.

You are amazing.

Affirmations

October 1, 2009

Affirming yourself and others is really important. It’s one little thing you can do that can make a difference.

But sometimes it’s really hard to affirm ourselves because the words that have been shared with us have torn down our self worth and any confidence we may have had.

But there is hope.

Things can change.

We can learn how to turn those negative, belittling old messages that nag at us and bring us down into positive, affirming and encouraging messages.

It’s hard. But you don’t have to do it alone.

Here are a few suggestions.

1.) Stop subjecting yourself to those negative messages, if you can.

2.) Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, lift you up and affirm you.

3.) Find a support group who will support you if you can.

4.) Let others compliment you. Receive them gladly and soak in those truths.

5.) Write some affirmations to yourself and put them in different places, speaking them in to existence daily, if not more.  I suggest a line or two of positive thought to replace the negative things that have been spoken to you.

Example- If someone continuously told you that you were ugly, right notes that continuously tell you how beautiful you are. Because that’s what you are……a beautiful person.

6.) Write and list of things you do like about yourself and have a friend or two write a list about you too, only to include the positive things. Review these lists frequently and especially when you’re down.

7.) Search the internet for positive, encouraging articles, poems, blogs and people that have some kind words to share. Keep them close.

Some of these things may sound really silly and as you know, none of these things will fix or heal you, but you may find them helpful and encouraging as you work through your difficult time.

Affirm yourself, because you are worth it and you are beautiful.

No matter where you are, no matter what you are going through-take care of yourself.  Struggling with and/or healing from something can be really hard, trying and exhausting.

Take care of yourself through the tough and difficult stuff.

This can be hard for some, if you’re not use to doing it and if you think you aren’t worth it.

But as I already mentioned here, you are worth it.

If you’re going through something that seems almost impossible to work through.

Take a break.

Take a break and do something for you.

Take your mind off what you’re enduring and do something else.

I’m not suggesting that you go on a drug /drinking binge or any other binge that would just leave you feeling empty and sometimes worse when you’re done with it. I’m not talking about burying yourself in to your work or chores around the house, I’m not talking about sleeping all day and I’m not talking about doing anything that may be considered violent to some extent. I’m talking about something that is better for you.

Something good. Something positive.

Something relaxing. Something healthy.

There are so many different things you can do.

Pick one. Pick two.

Go to dinner with some friends or some other loved one, go see a movie (something uplifting), pray, meditate, go to a retreat center for a weekend,  plan a get away to somewhere you haven’t been, get together with some folks and play board games, get a pedicure, manicure (yes, men too), get a massage, go to an amusement park for the day, go roller skating, scrap book, create a collage picture, make or build something, read a really good book (perhaps something not too intense, the point is to relax and get your mind off you what you’re going through), volunteer your time to something with a good cause (homeless shelter, food pantry, animal rescue, etc.), go to the library, trade your movies and/or books in and get new ones, learn how to knit.

There are a lot of things you can do that don’t cost much, if anything. Find something, a variety of things, that is going to get your mind off of what you are going through for a day or two.

Take a break.

Take care of yourself.

You’re worth it.
