The bandaids are coming off.

The lid to the box has been opened.

The wounds run deep.

The memories are never ending.

It feels like just the beginning.

It hurts like hell.

The pain is deep.

Don’t want to go back there, it’s only going to hurt me.

I can’t shake this feeling, I just want to run.

Away from this misery, take me out of this place.

I have no desire to look the memories in the face.

Step by step.

Day by day.

The process gets easier, the power of the memories begin to fade.

Healing arrives everyday.

Hope never fades.

Freedom is not far away.

Put me back together

This time with no band aids please.

Filled with healing.

Filled with freedom.

Filled with peace.

Blooming.

Growing.

Full of beauty.

Exquisite.

You are being cared for.

You are being watered.

Nurtured.

You are growing.

You are amazing.

Affirmations

October 1, 2009

Affirming yourself and others is really important. It’s one little thing you can do that can make a difference.

But sometimes it’s really hard to affirm ourselves because the words that have been shared with us have torn down our self worth and any confidence we may have had.

But there is hope.

Things can change.

We can learn how to turn those negative, belittling old messages that nag at us and bring us down into positive, affirming and encouraging messages.

It’s hard. But you don’t have to do it alone.

Here are a few suggestions.

1.) Stop subjecting yourself to those negative messages, if you can.

2.) Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, lift you up and affirm you.

3.) Find a support group who will support you if you can.

4.) Let others compliment you. Receive them gladly and soak in those truths.

5.) Write some affirmations to yourself and put them in different places, speaking them in to existence daily, if not more.  I suggest a line or two of positive thought to replace the negative things that have been spoken to you.

Example- If someone continuously told you that you were ugly, right notes that continuously tell you how beautiful you are. Because that’s what you are……a beautiful person.

6.) Write and list of things you do like about yourself and have a friend or two write a list about you too, only to include the positive things. Review these lists frequently and especially when you’re down.

7.) Search the internet for positive, encouraging articles, poems, blogs and people that have some kind words to share. Keep them close.

Some of these things may sound really silly and as you know, none of these things will fix or heal you, but you may find them helpful and encouraging as you work through your difficult time.

Affirm yourself, because you are worth it and you are beautiful.
